History of the Heathcott / Lee Apple-1
This is an original and operational Apple-1 “NTI” computer from the 2nd batch, including the original Apple-1 “NTI” board, original Apple Cassette Interface (ACI) “NTI” and original wooden Byte Shop Apple-1 case with Datanetics keyboard and power supply.
Appraised, verified and successfully tested by Prof. Gabriele Seleri and Claudio Parmigiani on December 1, 2016.
The acquisition
Alfred Lee of San Jose bought it from Jim Heathcott on February 29, 1984, for US$500. The owner kept it private until 2016.
Achim Baqué bought it in October 2021, after having known about it since 2018. There were some negotiations, a discreet meeting at VCF in the CHM and, in early 2021, the decision to buy it.
